Vergara is being sued by the estate of Griselda Blanco who want to block the new Netflix series due to the alleged ‘unauthorized use of their family’s image and likeness’
In the series, the America’s Got Talent judge plays Griselda Blanco, a Colombian drug lord who grew her cartel into one of the most profitable and infamous in the world.
While Sofia enthusiastically promotes the series, Griselda Blanco’s family tries to block publication of the story about the legendary cartel leader.
The family filed a lawsuit alleging “unauthorized use of their family’s image and likeness.”
Blanco’s only surviving son Michael filed the lawsuit. TMZ reported. It names Vergara and Netflix as defendants.
The series is scheduled for release on January 25, but the family has asked a judge for an injunction.
Griselda’s son Michael Corleone Blanco claims that he has been doing interviews for years to get his and his mother’s life story down on paper, in the hope that it can develop into a production.
Michael claims the interviews took place between 2009 and 2022.
The lawsuit claims his partners pitched it to Netflix and was told the streamer was interested, but had no use for the stories from any interviews he did.
But now that filming on the series has wrapped and it’s almost release day, Michael says the series has used many of her stories, anecdotes and material and hasn’t paid him for it.
Michael claims that Netflix essentially stole his family’s story for the plot of the series. Moreover, he is angry about the use of his and his late brothers Uber, Osvaldo and Dixon’s images and likenesses in the series and they have not given permission to Netflix for this.
This comes after Michael spoke exclusively to DailyMail.com about his anger and disappointment at Sofia and her team refusing his offer to consult on the project.

He called the rejection a ‘slap in the face’ – and said they ‘wouldn’t have gotten away with it’ if his mother were still alive.
Michael also criticized the “disrespectful” decision to transform Sofia’s beautiful face with facial prosthetics for her portrayal of his famous mother – the first female criminal billionaire to wage a reign of terror during the Cocaine Cowboys’ drug wars in Miami in the 1970s and 1980s.
Sofia previously revealed it took two hours in the make-up chair to transform into Griselda, and Michael made it clear he was furious with the interpretation.
“My mother was a beautiful woman and it’s crazy that a lot of people say, ‘No, you should look more like a drug addict’… The fact that they call her ‘ugly’ really offends me,” he said. said.
