Socialite Rebecca Grossman says she has been the target of “a lot of hate and anger” and has contemplated suicide since she killed two young brothers with her Mercedes in an upscale Los Angeles neighborhood in 2020.
Grossman, 58, is awaiting a double homicide trial for the deaths of Mark Iskander, 11, and Jacob Iskander, eight.
On September 29, 2020 at 7:10 PM she hit the boys with her Mercedes.
She had been seen drinking at a Mexican restaurant with retired Dodgers pitcher Scott Erickson earlier that day, but was not over the legal limit to drive at the time.
She insists it was a terrible accident, but prosecutors are pursuing the murder charge. A disturbing aspect of the case is the testimony that Grossman and Erickson may have been racing their cars in the street.
However, Grossman insists this is not true, saying the accident was caused by a dimly lit, poorly marked crosswalk.

Her vehicle’s black box shows she was traveling at 120 km/h at the time of the accident – well above the 45 km/h limit.
The boys had been with their parents and siblings at the time. The parents were able to avoid hitting their two younger siblings, but were unable to reach the boys in time.
Mark died at the scene and Jacob died in a hospital a few hours later.
In an interview with Los Angeles magazine this week she said she is being misunderstood by the public and police.
“There is a lot of hatred and anger out there… and that hatred comes from believing everything that has been put out about who I am: that I have no regrets, that I am this monster, that this has had no impact my life, that I just go on every day like this never happened.
“That’s just not true,” she said.

She insisted that she and Erickson are just friends and not lovers, as had been suggested by the boys’ parents, and said she was so wracked with guilt that she contemplated suicide.
Grossman and her husband are well known in Los Angeles and were regulars on the social scene until the 2020 accident
“The thought of taking the easy way out occurred to me. It still does sometimes,” she said.
Grossman’s husband is renowned burn surgeon Dr. Peter H. Grossman of LA.
Together they founded The Grossman Burn Foundation, which recently treated comedian Jay Leno.
He told the magazine, “She cries every day. She’s in an emotional prison she may never get out of.’
Grossman’s daughter has also set up a website to try and prove her innocence.
The family denies police reports and claims they tried to flee after the accident.
They say she doesn’t deserve to be tried for murder, and previously tried to get her charge downgraded to vehicular manslaughter. A judge denied their request.
In addition to the crime itself, Grossman has been widely criticized for what some see as an attempt to evade justice.
The court proceedings have been delayed due to her failure to appear in court and the death of her lawyer. She is free on $2 million cash bail.
Grossman is appealing to the California Supreme Court, claiming her rights were violated with the murder charge. There will be a pre-trial hearing on January 10.
