Social media users SLAM Meta’s ‘big’ AR glasses – as one claims ‘these would make you look like Michael Caine!’

But it seems not everyone is so enamored with Meta’s new augmented reality (AR) glasses.
The AR glasses, called Orion, were unveiled at Meta’s annual Connect conference.
Although they are only an early prototype, several users on social media have complained that they are too bulky.
“I can’t help but feel like you’ll look like Peter Sellers or Michael Caine in the 60s wearing these!!” one user tweeted.

At first glance, the thick black glasses look like any other basic glasses.
However, Zuckerberg explained during the event that the glasses can use holograms to transfer digital content to the real world.
“For now, I think the right way to view Orion is as a time machine,” the Chief Executive said.
“These glasses exist, they’re amazing and they provide a glimpse into a future that I think is going to be quite exciting.”

Some social media users pointed out the similarities between Orion and other famous glasses, such as Michael Caine’s
One user called Meta’s new glasses “pretty chunky” but went on to say they would choose them over Apple’s Vision Pro “any day of the week”
“I know they’re just a prototype*, but as someone who already wears some pretty hefty frames, those #Orion glasses look terribly uncomfortable, heavy and aesthetically s****,” one user wrote.
Another added: “#meta’s @orion feels pretty fat, doesn’t it?”
And someone said, ‘When are tech companies going to learn that no one wants things hanging out of their faces?
“The Meta Orion looks stupid, just like all the other facial gadgets.”
Meanwhile, others pointed out the similarities between Orion and other famous glasses.

Meta says it plans to make the glasses smaller, sleeker and cheaper before releasing them to consumers later.
Speaking to Reuters before the event, a source said Meta aims to deliver its first commercial AR glasses to consumers in 2027.
