A viral video of patriotic patrons standing up for the national anthem at a bar in Southern California has shocked some media users who have left thousands of horrified comments on TikTok posts.

The 14-second video posted by a user identified as “Paulina” shows about half a dozen individuals standing in front of the Star-Spangled Banner as it plays on a TV screen.

“By far the most dangerous situation I’ve ever been in,” Paulina wrote alongside the hashtags “godblessamerica,” “escape,” “illegal,” and “whitepeoplethings.”

The video was shot at the Rainbow Oaks Restaurant in Fallbrook, a town about 50 miles northeast of San Diego.

The TikTok user who posted the now-viral video of the greeting was clearly unaware of the day-to-day tradition and was amazed by the display.

Shared less than a week ago, the video has been viewed more than 3.1 million times.

Not all spectators were moved by the large group standing for the national anthem, as most of the comments were outraged and disgusted.

‘Serious question. Is this real? Like people do this in real everyday life?’ one user asked.

“This happened once when I was at mission bbq and it was so uncomfortable I haven’t been back since,” another replied.

“As someone from the UK this feels so dystopian,” said one person.

“This feels like a horror movie,” added another.

“As a Canadian, this is kind of insane,” one user wrote.

“I would be afraid for my life,” one person responded.

Others who participated called the video “wild” and “terrifying.”

According to KUSI, the restaurant has been carrying out the tradition daily for six years.

Many viewers from the San Diego station found the display endearing and patriotic when they shared a video of the tradition in mid-April.
