Social media users are left in UPROAR over video showing genius method for FAKING stone facades on homes

  • A post on X revealed a video of a man making a natural stone wall out of concrete
  • The facade was the handiwork of the Spanish artist and builder Marcos Albajez Lope
  • People on X were apparently disturbed that a stone wall could be simulated so well

The Internet has gone into a spiral over a video showing how a house’s stone facade can be artificially crafted – instead of being constructed from actual, organically interlocking rocks.

The 18-second clip, posted by the ‘no context memes’ account (@weirddalle), captures a builder sculpting the exterior of a wall out of concrete.

The finished result gives the impression that the surface is made up of chunks of real rock, seemingly simulating sandstone.

“My whole life was a lie,” read the text overlay on the video.

Although the facades of many buildings and houses are in fact made of real rocks and stones, that is not always the case; even bricks typically used in construction projects are often cheaper than concrete in most cases.

But this one especially showcased the handiwork of Spanish artist and builder Marcos Albajez Lopez, who has amassed more than a million followers around the world. Instagram and YouTube with clips in which he fabricates vast, organic-looking surfaces from concrete.

Marcos originally posted the longer version of the now-viral clip on his YouTube early December 2023.

The full three-minute, 24-second video on YouTube reveals the entire process as performed by the craftsman.

First, Marcos applied thick layers of concrete — or “mouldable mortar” as the video summary put it — to the wall’s inner foundation, which he then methodically smoothed out.

He then used custom-made paint rollers and a silicone mold to add texture, making the surface of the concrete look more like the organic surface of rocks or stones.

He then used a trowel to make deep grooves in the concrete, following what would become the edges of each faux stone.

Finally, he used a variety of tools to chisel away the corners of each fake stone, roughening and deepening the grooves overall.

Artist Marcos Albajez Lopez’s full video offered a more detailed look at how he completed the project

After applying concrete to the wall and making sure the surface was smooth, Marcus used tools, including a custom paint roller and a silicone mold, to create a rock-like texture

He then used a trowel to outline the edges of the individual faux bricks into the concrete

As a final step, he roughed up the edges of the fake rocks to give the result a more authentic look

The final results were virtually indistinguishable from real stones

Although the result looked aesthetically impressive, it is worth noting that real stones used as building materials tend to be cheaper than concrete.

People were extremely panicked by the fake rock facade

As can be seen in the edited clip posted to X, the results were virtually indistinguishable from a real rock wall.

And many on X were panicked by this.

“Trust issues fr,” one person wrote.

“My view of the world as I know it is shattered and beyond repair,” a second agreed.

“I cannot forgive this deception,” shouted a third.

Someone with knowledge of construction intervened to point out people’s broader ignorance of technical knowledge when it comes to how things are made.

“Brother, I work in architectural coatings and you would be surprised how many people don’t realize that walls are stained by paint. People have been boiled for a minute.”
