Eagle-eyed FIFA video game players have spotted a star from the game’s hugely successful career mode appearing in a recent ITV drama, and social media has been bursting with reactions.
From being the prominent face of the virtual football series to starring in a new television series, Alex Hunter is a name most FIFA players will be used to.
The fictional character was first introduced in the game’s career mode series as a hopeful trial player in FIFA 17, allowing users to take control of the rising star’s life both on and off the pitch.
He then played in the next two series of the competition, with the journey ending with him joining Real Madrid and winning the Champions League. Now fans of the game have spotted it in ITV’s Trigger Point series.
The virtual character was played by actor Adetomiwa Edun, who worked with Cristiano Ronaldo, Harry Kane and Rio Ferdinand, among others, during the filming of the footage for the previous editions of the game.

Edun, now 39 years old, plays Alex in the hit drama series, but FIFA players are still enamored with his earlier stint in the video game.
An enthusiastic supporter said on X: Crazy that Alex Hunter is in Trigger Point…from scoring goals in FIFA to criminal activities…
“Alex Hunter goes from #FIFA career mode to a job at Trigger Point,” said another.

A third comment couldn’t believe the star’s crossover, which read: ‘FIFA’s Alex Hunter is in Trigger Point, I let this man win the Champions League with Madrid! Now he’s a criminal! I should have stuck with footy mate!’
‘Watching the new season of Trigger Point and Alex Hunter shows his face! So that’s where he went after his glittering FIFA career ended,” said another stunned viewer.
An end user added: ‘I was watching Trigger Point and wondering where I had seen the actor play the Alex character before I realized that Alex Hunter in FIFA 17/18/19 was based on it.’
The actor has also appeared in other films and television series, but caught the attention of football fans with his latest major television role.
