Colombia has attracted attention, but it’s not because of their football on the pitch.

On Twitter, users praised the passion shown during the national anthems.

One user said, ‘I mean if passion in belting out the national anthem means anything, Colombia wins this.

β€œI can’t help but think that if the line “Long to reign over us” was “So good, so good, so good,” we’d love to sing that a little more. Come on, beauties’.

Another football fan echoed the sentiment, stating that Colombia would win ‘hands down’ if a match was decided by the national anthems.

“If a match were decided based on the team’s rendition of the national anthem, Colombia would win hands down,” they wrote.

Another Twitter account criticized England for showing a lack of passion during their national anthem, stating: Colombia, show how to sing the national anthem

Why do some of the England team try not to sing the national anthem, but still mouth it? I assume you are proud to represent England’.

This was supported by user Six9Giant, who said, β€œEngland Lionesses cannot be heard or seen singing our national anthem with any love or passion. Then the Colombian team and supporters can be heard singing their national anthem with courage and love.”

The Colombian players were further praised for ‘singing out’ their national anthem, as james_capie wrote, ‘Colombia women singing their national anthem toneless, head back screaming and lost in it, you absolutely love watching it. Just fantastic.’

The Lionesses hope they can prove their passion on the pitch as they seek World Cup glory.

Elsewhere, co-hosts Australia reached the semi-finals after a penatly shoot-out victory over France.
