As royal fans continue to wonder where on earth Meghan Markle’s missing engagement ring has gone, a source may have solved the months-long mystery.
The Duchess of Sussex, 42, was first seen without her massive sparkler, made up of a massive Botswanan diamond and two from Princess Diana’s collection, in May.
Given that Meghan had already made changes to the sparkler in 2019, replacing the solid gold setting with a micropavé band, surely she was unlikely to have it resized again?
Instead, rumors of trouble in paradise between the Sussexes sprang up, but the mystery was compounded when the pair debunked the rumors and looked more in love than ever in a polished video released by their Archewell Foundation.
However, eagle-eyed Sussex viewers may finally get their answer after a source claimed the second version of the Duchess’ engagement band is being ‘fixed’.
The Duchess of Sussex has been spotted several times in recent months without her engagement ring, leading fans to speculate as to where the ring has gone (pictured last week with friends Cleo Wade and Kadi Lee)
Page six reported the unnamed source’s claim as they quashed speculation surrounding the Duke and Duchess’ marriage.
Prince Harry first presented Meghan Markle with the ring, which originally consisted of the three stones on a yellow gold band, when he got down on one knee in November 2017 — explaining that he designed it based on Meghan’s personal taste.
At the time, he said: “Obviously the ring is yellow gold because that’s (Meghan’s) favorite and the main stone itself I got from Botswana and the little diamonds on either side are from my mom’s jewelry collection, just to make sure they’re with us. this crazy journey together.’
Meghan called it “incredible” and explained: “Everything about Harry’s thoughtfulness and the inclusion of (Princess Diana’s stones) and obviously not being able to meet his mother, it’s so important for me to know that she’s here with is part of us.
When the Duchess first wore the engagement ring in 2017, it was fitted with a gold band, which Harry said she chose because yellow gold was Meghan’s “favourite.”
The Duchess of Sussex’s ring reappeared on her finger during Trooping the Color in 2019, with a different band
“It’s incredibly special to have this[ring]what a link where you come from and Botswana, which is important to us. It’s perfect.’
Botswana was the location of the couple’s second date.
However, the Duchess chose not to wear her engagement ring in 2019 during a number of public engagements while pregnant with her son Archie.
When she appeared at Trooping the Color that year, it turned out that the Duchess had modified the bespoke engagement ring Prince Harry had designed for her. Instead of the gold band, the ring now worn by the Duchess featured a micro pavé band filled with smaller diamonds.
Jewelry expert Arabel Lebrusan confirmed at the time that the ring had been altered, suggesting that it was more American in style compared to the original engagement ring.
Calling the thinner band a popular trend, she revealed, “A lot of celebrities do this, because the center stone looks bigger compared to the wow factor.”
Pointing out the difference in the band, the jewelry expert said, “She now has tiny diamonds on the sides of her engagement ring, and the band also seems thinner than before.”
She also revealed that the shimmering band only highlighted Meghan’s diamonds, adding, “The diamond setting on the band looks like micro-set, it means there is very little metal between the stones, which makes the sparkle of the little diamonds is maximized.’
