As the biggest superstar in the world, Taylor Swift can be forgiven for occasionally wanting to escape the attention of her loyal fans, who are eager to see her.

Now The Mail on Sunday can reveal how she escapes those prying eyes: she climbs into a huge package.

When the Shake It Off singer wants to sneak into a hotel or concert venue incognito, she does so in one of the large black suitcases that roadies typically use to transport bulky audio equipment.

And it works: where she stayed during the British leg of her Eras tour has remained a mystery throughout, with only unsubstantiated rumors about her places of residence.

A tour insider said: ‘It is unheard of for a musician to hide where he is staying during such a high-profile tour.

The pop icon was quickly spotted from the back of the cart during the concert

But Taylor likes to keep her moves secret and keep that part of her life a secret from the world.

‘And she found the perfect way: she hides in a suitcase. She’s seen when she wants to be seen and that’s it.’

Fans previously saw her use a similar technique during a tour in Texas, when she was wheeled into the arena and backstage area in a large cleaning cart.

Despite her secrecy, it can be revealed that Ms Swift has been to the picturesque Cornish town of St Ives three times since 2022.

Although she used her private jet to get there, she managed to avoid detection each time.

She wears all sorts of disguises, including wigs, hats, large glasses and other unlikely garments in an extraordinary – and successful – attempt to avoid attention.

A friend said: ‘Taylor has been to Cornwall a few times but has never been spotted there. It’s probably the last place you’d expect to see her – maybe that’s why she goes there.

“It’s absolutely amazing that she’s hardly seen anywhere. She’s very clever about staying under the radar.”

While she flew to Cornwall in her £20million Dassault Falcon 7X jet, she opted for less conspicuous transport in London, in an unassuming old Nissan Qashqai.

She used the car while living in a £7million mansion in Hampstead, north London, when she was in a relationship with British actor Joe Alwyn.

Taylor has a strong stage presence during her shows, but away from work she wears all kinds of disguises, including wigs, hats, large glasses and other unlikely garments in an extraordinary – and successful – attempt to avoid attention.

A source close to Ms Swift, who is now in a relationship with American footballer Travis Kelce, said: ‘She had a very ordinary car. Although she could go anywhere in a limo, she knew a small Nissan wouldn’t attract attention.

“It’s one of the reasons she was hardly seen when she lived here.”

However, there is one group of people Swift enjoys meeting: music critics.

A source said: ‘She loves meeting the critics and writers who most often cover her career, and she’s always very knowledgeable about who they are, who they work for, what they’ve written about her – down to very specific details about their careers.’

She gets help from her publicist Tree Paine, who has been described by industry sources as ‘terrifying’ and ‘staunchly loyal’.

One profile said she was “an unassuming but constant presence” in the star’s life.

She previously worked for the likes of Snoop Dogg and Marilyn Manson before meeting Ms Swift, who is now her only client.
