Snubbed Aussie fast Michael Neser takes a HAT-TRICK in England county cricket with a devastating display of swing bowling that could force selectors to rethink Ashes
- Michael Neser was overlooked for Ash’s squad
- Responded with 7/32 from 11 overs for Glamorgan
- Including a hat-trick, keeps hoping for a late call-up
Dumped Australian fast Michael Neser could force Ashes voters to reconsider after nabbing a hat-trick for Glamorgan in England’s county cricket.
Neser, 33, trapped Dawid Malan up front before bowling Yorkshire all-rounders George Hill and Dom Bess.
He finished with impressive figures of 7-32 from 11 overs.
The Queensland veteran also became the 11th Glamorgan cricketer to claim a hat-trick – and remains hopeful of playing another part in the series against England.
“It’s disappointing not to be part of that squad, but I have to look at the positives,” Neser told reporters.

Neser was recently crowned Sheffield Shield Player of the Year, but it wasn’t enough to be named in the 17-man Ashes squad
‘I play cricket here [in the UK]and when I’m called upon, I’m ready to go.
“Having games under my belt is much more important than bowling into the nets and not playing games.
“It would be a special moment if I were selected for the Ashes squad in the back half of the tour.”
Neser – who also scored a hat-trick for the Brisbane Heat at the Big Bash in December – was overlooked for Scott Boland.
Skipper Pat Cummins, Josh Hazlewood and Mitchell Starc were selection certainties.
In Sussex, Australian star batsman Steve Smith appeared to be in good contact until he got LBW for 30.
The first test starts on June 16 in Edgbaston.
