This sneaky trick in Outlook ensures your emails will never be ignored again – but thousands want it kept ‘secret’

A tech expert has revealed a simple trick to ensure your emails will never be ignored again – but some are desperate to keep the ‘infuriating’ feature a secret.

While office workers now know what ‘cringey’ phrases they should never use in emails, many are still far from mastering the details of Outlook.

Nick Benton, who runs TA Tech Tips online, shared how you can send an email with a follow-up reminder if you use Microsoft Outlook.

‘We’ve all got those annoying colleagues who never reply, and here’s how you can give them a gentle nudge,’ Nick said in a video.

All you have to do is first type out the email, click on the ‘Flag’ icon in the top right corner, and click ‘Add Reminder’.

When you go to customize it, you can set a ‘Reminder’ notification for the recipient, ensuring they get a pop-up box that flags the urgency of your email a few minutes or hours after they have received it.

‘Now, they have no excuse to miss those emails,’ Nick said.

A flag on a message to recipients adds extra emphasis.

If the recipient is also using Outlook, the flagged item will be automatically added to their to-do list.

Many office works prefer using the simple work-around instead of sending several follow-up emails and escalating the matter to their recipient’s manager.

It is especially useful for those who have busy schedules and can forget to respond to emails when the work piles up.

The hack comes after users discovered a ‘game-changing’ new iPhone iOS 16 photo feature and how travelers can track their phones from anywhere in the world.

Many claimed the tip was a ‘life-saver’.

‘Wow! Mind blown,’ one said. ‘This is going to be so useful.’

‘I’m so going to try this for work,’ another added.

While some were disappointed by the useful hack.

‘I will definitely ignore that email on purpose,’ a man wrote.

‘Anyone who does this to me is just going to get blocked,’ another echoed.

Those intrigued by setting follow-up emails will also be delighted to discover that you can schedule text messages on iPhones ahead of time.

The ‘Shortcuts’ app will let users schedule messages months in advance, with an option to resend the message daily, weekly, or monthly.

The app can also be used to set alarms, toggle Maps, play certain songs when your phone connects to CarPlay, and send emails.

A daily message might be useful as a greeting to a family member or partner, while a weekly or monthly text is helpful for certain chores or grocery items.

Shortcuts was first introduced with iOS 13 in 2019, so the app should already be on your phone if you’re using the latest version of the software.

Users with older versions can still schedule their text messages, but they will need to manually download the ‘Shortcuts’ app from the AppStore.

In order to schedule your text message, you will first need to click on the ‘Create Personal Automation’ option and select the ‘Time of Day’.

Next, you’ll have to click on the ‘Message’ icon and pick whether you want it to resend daily, weekly, or monthly.

But if you only want to send the message once, you can disable the recurrence after your message has been sent.

After selecting a time slot, you simply need to press on the ‘Send Message’ option and then toggle off the ‘Ask Before Running’ feature so that the text sends automatically.
