Snap shared to mark Princess Charlotte’s birthday shows her striking similarity to Prince William
A new portrait has been shared to mark Princess Charlotte’s eighth birthday tomorrow (May 2).
Photographed by her mother, as in previous years, she gifted the Princess of Wales, 41, with a grin between her teeth to mark the occasion.
With her tousled dark hair and rosy cheeks, it seems that country life on the King’s Berkshire estate, where the family moved last summer, agrees with her.
On releasing the images, Kensington Palace said: “The Prince and Princess of Wales are delighted to share a new photo of Princess Charlotte ahead of her eighth birthday.”
And like the images posted last year to mark Charlotte’s special day, it shows the princess’s striking resemblance to her father, Prince William, 40.

The father-daughter duo seem to share a number of facial features, including their eyes and nose, and expressions.
They both have big, radiant smiles that bear more than a passing family resemblance.
Every year the Wales release new photos on the occasion of their children’s birthdays, usually taken by their mother, the Princess of Wales.
Last year, when Charlotte celebrated turning seven, photos were published of the youngster at the family’s country home, Anmer Hall in Norfolk.
In the photos, Charlotte can be seen smiling into the lens, wearing a blue blouse and patterned sweater, and holding a bouquet of freshly picked daisies.
While her birthday is on May 2, the young royal family started celebrating early and was spotted in London over the weekend.
The princess was no doubt delighted with the pre-birthday treat her mother arranged for her on Saturday, when she took a group of friends to the Royal Opera House to see the Cinderella ballet, where the girls were allowed to take the stage at the end.
As one Twitter user confirmed her surprise at seeing the royal mother and daughter in the audience, a video posted on Instagram showed the Princess of Wales going up to her daughter who was on stage.

Today’s release of the latest portrait follows the Welsh tradition of sharing photos of their children each year to mark their birthdays, when she was five (pictured, left) and six (pictured, right).
In the clip, the happy birthday girl was attracted by the performers and smiles shyly as proud mom Kate fusses over her.
Charlotte, who is wearing a cute fringed fuchsia dress and has her hair in a bun, can also be seen waving a lighted wand as she appears to be joined on stage by her friends.
In another clip, Charlotte and the other girls go on stage with glitter falling on them as the princess raises her hands to try and catch it.
And soon she will be seen again in the capital.
Charlotte will enchant royal fans this weekend when she shows up at the coronation with her family.

She would not have an official role due to her age, but she is expected to attend the ceremony at Westminster Abbey and appear on the balcony of Buckingham Palace.
And the young royal family is expected to join her father, the Prince of Wales, her mother Kate, older brother Prince George, nine, and younger brother Prince Louis, five, in the coronation procession.
