Smite 2’s Gods are being improved based on ‘years and years’ of balanced discussion and community feedback
Hits 2 developer Titan Forge Games has released a deep dive video enter the process of transferring and improving To beat‘s gods (playable characters) for the highly anticipated sequel.
In case you weren’t familiar, the free-to-play multiplayer online battle arena (MOBA) To beat is home to over 100 playable characters, including historical gods such as Anubis, Poseidon and Fafnir. When Hits 2 was announced last monthit was confirmed that not all of these gods will be playable right away. However, in addition to the new characters that will be added to the roster, players can also look forward to overhauls of existing characters that will improve the way they look and play.
“First we’re going to look at the character, see what things we wanted to change over time,” advanced game designer Daniel Cooper explained in the video. “We have years and years of different balancing discussions and community feedback about what people like about a character, about what people don’t like about a character, feature requests that they’ve wanted for a long time. So we’re trying to consolidate all of that together so that we have our main list of improvements that we think we can implement very quickly.”
It was explained that the developers first transfer characters as they appear Hits 1 before making a list of improvements and enhancements they want to implement. “The gameplay team will go through and actually assess the technical needs,” added senior gameplay programmer Josh Malmquist.
Hits 2 is scheduled for release on PC, Xbox Series|S and PlayStation 5, and a closed alpha test is planned to take place this spring. But even if the sequel comes out, there are no plans to close Hits 1. Executive producer Alex Cantatore previously told Ny Breaking Gaming that this decision was made to ensure that the developers “respected our players and the time, money and attachment they have” to the first game.
