Smashing Pumpkins’ Billy Corgan admits he ‘has his brain tripped’ over a cannabis cookie while watching the Australian Open
Smashing Pumpkins star Billy Corgan has revealed why Australia is his favorite place to tour.
The iconic singer, 56, who is currently in Australia for his The World Is A Vampire tour, shared some of his wildest memories from previous trips Down Under with music site Noise11 this week.
“I got stung by a blue bottle jellyfish in Byron Bay with a bunch of pasty musicians spending the day at the beach,” Corgan grinned.
‘[Scottish rock band] Teenage Fanclub gave me a pot biscuit, and I spent eight hours freaking out trying to watch the Australian Open,” he added.
Now back in Australia, Corgan is looking forward to incorporating his passion for wrestling into his band’s national tour.

Corgan has spent the last few years working on his passion project, a wrestling company called National Wrestling Alliance.
Each of the Smashing Pumpkins’ Australian shows features a professional wrestling match between Corgan’s NWA (National Wrestling Alliance) and the WAOA (Wrestling Alliance of Australia).
“(Wrestling) is something I really love… and part of bringing it back is to prove to wrestling culture that the NWA can go places that only I can take,” he said.
‘[Scottish rock band] Teenage Fanclub gave me a potcake and I laughed my ass off for eight hours trying to watch the Australian Open,” he told Noise11 this week.
“Sharing that with Australian fans is something I’ve worked very hard on.”
The World Is A Vampire tour will also feature alternative rock band Jane’s Addiction and Australian bands Amyl & The Sniffers, RedHook and Battlesnake.
Formed in Chicago in 1988, The Smashing Pumpkins went on to become one of the most definitive alternative rock bands of the 1990s.
The band’s biggest hits are 1979, Zero, Bullet With Butterfly Wings and Tonight, Tonight.
