Slipknot fans are furious Heavy metal giants Slipknot have announced that their drummer Jay Weinberg has left the band.
The Grammy-winning band announced the move on its official website, which begins with the remaining members thanking him for “his dedication and passion over the past decade.”
“No one can ever replace the original sound, style or energy of Joey Jordison, but Jay has honored Joey’s roles and contributed to the last three albums and we, the band and the fans appreciate it,” the statement said, referring to the original drummer. Joey Jordison (1995-2013), who passed away two years ago after leaving the band in 2013.

A third wrote: Thank you for the unforgettable memories. You held your own in one of the toughest jobs in music. What a loss for Slipknot.”
The band has not shared exactly what led to Weinberg’s departure after a decade of service, which included playing drums for their last three studio albums: .5: The Gray Chapter (2014), We Are Not Your Kind (2019) and The End, until now (2022).
“Slipknot plans to evolve,” the statement continued. “The band has decided to make a creative decision and part ways with Jay. We wish Jay all the best and are very excited about what the future holds.”
So far, 32-year-old Weinberg, the son of former Bruce Springsteen & E Street Band drummer Max Weinberg, has not shared a public statement about his move from Slipknot.
Just a day before the announcement, Weinberg took to his Instagram page and gushed about how great the year had been for him and the band.

He previously performed with groups such as Bruce Springsteen & The E Street Band, Against Me!, Kvelertak and Madball.
The New Jersey native joined Slipknot in 2014 following the departure of Jordison, who co-founded the group when they formed in 1995 in Des Moines, Iowa.
The metal titans are known for their striking visuals, aggressive music style and energetic and chaotic live shows.

In early September, Weinberg shared on Instagram his gratitude for being named “Metal Drummer of the Year in the 2023 @modern_drummer Readers Poll.”
He continued, “Thank you to Modern Drummer, the entire MD readership, and everyone who voted!
“To know that the hard work my big brothers at @slipknot and I have put in over the past two years has made meaningful connections with so many of you is a total gift. I’m truly grateful for all of you who spent time with our music,” he added.
“Lars, Art, Brooks and Dirk – I could never fully express the admiration and respect I have for each and every one of you. Your work and talents inspire me every day to be the best drummer I can be, and it is a privilege to be nominated with you in this category.”
He ended by thanking everyone “for this kind recognition, I sincerely appreciate your support.”
At this time, Slipknot has not made any public statement regarding who will take over Weinberg’s drums.
It comes after Slipknot announced in June that they were parting ways with keyboardist Craig Jones after 27 years.
In a now-deleted social media post, the band wrote: “To our fans, Slipknot announces that we have parted ways with Craig Jones.
‘We wish Jones all the best for the future.’

Craig, 51, who joined the group in 1996, is recognizable by his spiky face mask, which he wears during live performances.
He has recorded all seven of their studio albums to date and performed with the Iowan metal band.
Craig’s departure marked the fourth time an original member left and was replaced.
Most recently, the brand brought in Michael Pfaff to replace percussionist Chris Fehn in 2019.
Before that, the band welcomed drummer Jay Weinberg and bassist Alessandro Venturella in 2014 to replace Joey Jordison, who died in 2021, and Paul Gray, who died in 2010.
