A sleepy lakeside town in North Carolina has been named America’s fastest-growing suburb because you can buy a new home there for less than $500,000.
Mooresville is the fastest growing part of the Charlotte metropolitan area with a population of 50,000, according to the city website.
The quiet town, located near Lake Norman, is only 25 miles from the big city and is best known for the many NASCAR racing teams and drivers that come from here, earning it the nickname ‘Race City USA’.
Aside from its residents’ need for speed, it’s a nice place to settle down, with home prices averaging around $480,500 in July.

GoBankingRates selects the cities on the list based on suburbs with home prices under $500,000 and a population growth of nine percent between 2020 and 2022.
Of the 50 selected participants, many came from Arizona, California, Florida, Maryland, Michigan and Texas.
The top five places to move are Moorseville, Hamtramck, Michigan; Buckeye, Arizona; Union City, Georgia; and Canyon Lake, Texas.
Several other recognizable cities also make the list, including Dearborn (Michigan), Brocton (Massachusetts), and Desert Hot Springs (California).
