Skye Wheatley in ‘so much stress’ over disaster renovation of luxury Gold Coast mansion: ‘We are in way over our heads’

Skye Wheatley pulled her hair out on Sunday as she shared an update on how renovations are going at her lavish Gold Coast mansion.

The 30-year-old I’m A Celebrity winner shared photos of the luxury swimming pool currently being built in her backyard and said the tiling was a disaster.

The influencer shared several photos and ranted about how “stressed” she is about the renovation, especially after discolored tiles were installed at her pool.

The venting session started when Skye started a Q&A with her followers via her Instagram Stories about the “crazy” sidewalk in her backyard.

‘There’s all this black/brown s*** all over our crazy pave. Lachy [her partner] said ‘it’s natural’ when I asked, but I’ve never seen this before,” she said.

‘Do any professionals know whether this is normal or should we ask tilers to re-tile?’

Alongside the caption, Skye added an image of the stairs leading down to her lush pool-to-be, surrounding all the discolored brown areas at the edges of the tiles.

She then shared another angle of the scene, saying, “The Reno actually causes so much stress and every day I wake up so tired and don’t even want to get out of bed.

“Like, basically ready to sell at this point.” We are in way over our heads with this project. It’s huge and so exhausting.’

She added that she was initially willing to look past the discoloration of the tile because she was just “glad” things were getting done, but is now “appalled” about it.

“I’m such a perfectionist, but also so busy with my own work, that I don’t have time to stand there and supervise the crafts and overlook every little thing.”

‘But in situations like this you really have to do that. That is why there are PROJECT MANAGERS on every job. Our position does not have a project manager and that is noticeable.’

Skye went on to say that she would probably call the tilers back to replace the discolored tiles as they were ‘throwing away’ a lot of ‘clean’ tiles that they could have used instead.

It’s not the first time the renovation has caused problems for Skye, as she stunned fans last July by getting into a shouting match with her partner Lachlan Waugh over it.

The influencer shared a shocking video on Instagram at the time of Lachlan taking Skye on a tour of the renovation work on their new home.

The footage started with Lachlan presenting the work, as he pointed out which rooms will have skylights to capture the radiant sunshine.

‘I just ordered the windows and designed the room myself!’ a proud Lachlan told Skye, who initially agreed his plans were ‘stunning’.

However, Skye soon became upset with some of Lachlan’s plans and wondered why he had installed skylights in some rooms and not others.

‘A skylight is pointless in this room because of the beautiful window. We could have used that skylight in the room [walk-in wardrobe]’, a frustrated Skye began.

“Oh my God, why wouldn’t you think of that? There are skylights where they don’t need to be, and none where they should be!’

However, Lachlan became frustrated when he told his partner that he had chosen the ideal locations for the skylights and said they were not needed for the wardrobe.

“It’s a damn room, how many rooms are you going to be in that’s dark? It’s fine, what are you even worried about, not being able to take a photo there?’ he said.

Fans were divided over the heated exchange and quickly took to the comments section to say whether they belonged to Team Skye or Team Lachlan.

‘Skylights in there make your clothes fade faster. It’s a mistake to put it there, don’t do it,” one Lachlan supporter wrote.

“Give the woman her skylight,” one Skye fan added, and a third person commented: “She’s right.”

Skye shot to fame on Big Brother Australia in 2014 and is now a full-time influencer with 661,000 followers.

In 2023, Skye put her $75,000 Mercedes on the market to help finance renovation work on her luxurious Gold Coast mansion.

The former Big Brother star turned influencer shared a photo of her white Mercedes on Instagram and asked interested buyers to message her.
