Skye Wheatley: Size 8 influencer who weighs just 60kg is ‘uncomfortable’ with her weight gain

Size 8 influencer who weighs just 60kg sparks outrage as she says she is ‘uncomfortable’ with her weight gain: ‘I’m used to being so skinny’

Skye Wheatley has expressed her discomfort about gaining several pounds despite only being a size 8.

The former Big Brother Australia star turned influencer, 28, raised her eyebrows on Sunday after she complained on Instagram about the downsides of “bulking,” a bodybuilding strategy that involves consuming excess calories to build muscle.

“I weigh 60kg (I weighed myself at the gym the other day) and the lightest I’ve been is 54kg and the heaviest is 64kg,” the mum-of-two responded to a fan asking about her recent weight gain.

“I know it’s uncomfortable to gain weight. I’m kind of uncomfortable at the moment but I’m just enjoying the junk in the trunk to be honest and it’s only because my clothes are tight,” Skye explained.

The blonde said she recently bought a pair of size 8 jeans to accommodate her curves, but insisted she embraced her new body because she can “easily lose weight if she wants to.”

Her post ended with a pre-emptive response to fans who might criticize her for suggesting she is overweight at such a small size.

“I know size 8 is still small but I’m used to being so skinny,” she wrote before pointing out that “sometimes 1-3kg can make such a difference in how you feel in your body.”

But this didn’t stop Instagram ‘snark’ account DutchMinty of calling Skye out hours later in a furious diatribe about body-obsessed influencers.

The anonymous admin slammed influencers for drawing attention to their slim physiques, often announcing the size of their clothes or sharing photos of themselves with glaring “thigh gaps.”

“I couldn’t believe my eyes when I read Skye Wheatley’s Q&A tonight. Disappointed in self for weighing 60kg (size 8),’ the message read.

Skye has made no secret of the fact that she has struggled with her body image in the past, having recently admitted that she once struggled with anorexia and binge eating.

In a TikTok video, Skye explains that while she has things are much better since she became a mother, she still binges.

However, she stressed that she has not been diagnosed with a binge eating disorder by a medical professional.

‘I’m bothered by my body image and the way my body looks and didn’t have a good relationship with food. I would eat to where I would just sleep… eat to the point of exhaustion,” she said.
