TV viewers have expressed their devastation as both Sky and Virgin are pulling the plug on one of their popular channels.
The 24-hour film station, TCM, is permanently axed from tomorrow after more than two decades on the air in the UK and Ireland.
TCM is known for its coverage of classic movies, featuring western oldies and numerous all-time favorites such as A Space Odyssey and Ocean’s Eleven.
Now, with just hours before it’s taken down, nostalgic comments are pouring in as fans reminisce about watching TCM for all those years.
“You made my memories with my grandma, the best memories ever,” said one person.

Another added: “I don’t understand there are way too many wasted channels which is crazy. TCM is a really good channel.’
The heartfelt comments come after TCM revealed its last day on UK TV would be July 6.
A Facebook post read: “On July 6, we ride into the sunset one last time.
“Thank you for joining us on our journey and for loving classic movies as much as we do.”
As of now, the classic movie station is available on Sky’s 315 and Virgin’s 415 channels.
From tomorrow it will no longer be broadcast here, which means that the associated +1 channels will also be removed.
It’s not clear what time this will be, but MailOnline has reached out to Sky and Virgin for comment.
After the closure, TCM has been referring TV viewers to Quest if they want to continue watching their favorite movies.
Both channels are operated by Warner Bros, with Quest available on 149 and 137 respectively on Sky and Virgin.
Quest is also available on Discovery+ – a streaming service largely devoted to non-fiction and sports content.

But it seems that this backup option hasn’t allayed the disappointment of countless TCM fans in the UK.
“Goodbye TCM Movies UK,” said one person. “Thank you for being with the UK for so many years. We will miss you.’
Another chimed in: ‘My dad is in a period of mourning as the UK’s TCM channel is being shut down.
“Where does he go to watch old black and white and cowboy movies?”
A tweet called out Virgin Media saying, ‘Nice email saying TCM movies are closing and no longer available, but don’t worry my bill won’t be affected. Very thoughtful to remove channels but keep the price the same. Represents a good price – a feeling of happiness!’

The company apologized, adding: ‘We aim to offer you a wide range of channels, but these may change from time to time as we can only broadcast the channels for which we have a license and agreement. Sorry for any disappointment.’
TCM is still available in the US on platforms like Hulu.
US streaming service HBO Max also continues to host a curated portion of TCM, although this is not available to UK viewers.
