‘Say what you want about my appearance, I don’t care… but please don’t criticize my work because that really hits hard and that doesn’t usually happen.

‘I get on with a lot of darts players, I’m in a privileged position to do what I do, but I don’t want to lose sight of what it’s like to be a darts fan. I’m on their side, I’m not on the other side, so to speak. I just have an incredible role to play.”

As well as reporting on darts for Sky Sports, James has worked on Late Night Football Club and on BBC One’s chat show during Wales’ participation in the 2022 FIFA World Cup.

Speaking about her entry into darts, James explained: “My first time going to Ally Pally was in 2009. The first time I started working in darts it was one of those things where I didn’t know if I wild. combine fun with work.

“My main job is as a radio DJ and then I did some hosting and presenting and then someone contacted me to see if I wanted to do the post-match interviews for the Premier League in 2019.

‘I thought I’d like to do that and I’d give it a try, and the following year I started working for Sky.

In December, James also spoke with The sun about her tattoos and admitted she had a “poignant reason” for the designs.

‘That’s how you have to be when you work on a platform with radio and TV. Even though I have that hard shell, I can still be soft.

‘I take a lot of pride in my work, so I wish sometimes people would judge me by my work and not by my appearance.

“I have ‘Family’ on one side of my neck and a rose on the other. There is such a poignant reason for the words, because my extended family means so much to me.”
