Sky Sports legend Chris Kamara details his recent diagnosis of speech apraxia in a new documentary
Television legend Chris Kamara embarks on a very personal journey to gain a deeper understanding of his recent diagnosis of apraxia of speech (AOS).
In the uplifting documentary, Chris Kamara: Lost for Words, the football legend, 64, gives viewers unprecedented access to life with AOS.
The speech disorder causes a person to struggle to pronounce words correctly and consistently, and his hard-fought struggle to accept his diagnosis.

Chris is much loved and revered for his unique and iconic football expertise and has received support from his loyal fans since diagnosis.
His signature tone and presentation style have made him one of the most loved presenters in the country and while his recent diagnosis hasn’t slowed him down, the Ninja Warrior host has admitted he found it hard to watch himself on TV and asks. he now wonders whether he should not continue.
From his initial denials to his diagnosis and now to the disciplined way he manages his therapy, the documentary will follow Kammy as he seeks advice from experts and meets others with AOS who are also working their way through this rare condition. light and start a conversation about a condition doctors know very little about.

Chris said of the documentary: ‘This documentary is very personal to me. I really want to make people aware of speech apraxia/dyspraxia. Little is known about it, which makes the diagnosis so much more difficult to navigate.
“Hopefully by sharing my story it will raise awareness and also help people who may also be living with this condition by showing them that there are ways to cope and still live fulfilling lives.”
Chris Kamara: Lost for Words was created by Triple Brew Media, part of All3Media’s Objective Media Group, for ITV.

Opening: Chris said he’s working on getting his speech back to normal and hopes he can beat it
In March 2022, he revealed in a social media post that he has developed speech apraxia.
He tweeted, “Just wanted to let a few of you know who tweeted me today that I am fine.
“In addition to my thyroid problem, I have developed speech apraxia and have been working to get my speech back to normal. Some days it can be a bit slow and some days it is normal. Hopefully I can beat this!’
