Skoda’s Citigo is the UK’s most reliable car, according to new data

Secondhand buyers, take note. Skoda’s Citigo is Britain’s most reliable car, according to new data.

It is followed by the Tesla Model 3, Lexus CT, Fiat 124, Suzuki Vitara, Volvo S90 and Ford’s Ecosport and Edge, according to the latest reliability index from warranty specialist MotorEasy.

The most reliable manufacturer is Dacia (the budget branch of the Renault Group), followed by Suzuki, Honda, Smart, Infiniti, Lexus, Fiat, Skoda, Renault and Toyota.

The findings are based on an analysis of claims data from extended warranties on 300 models from 44 manufacturers since 2016, including average annual claims and their costs.

The Citigo comes out on top because in absolute terms it is both the cheapest to repair and the least likely to be repaired.

It is 88 percent cheaper than average and 1,700 percent lower than average in terms of repair frequency.

The Lexus CT requires just as few repairs, but costs more than twice as much as the Citigo.

The average repair costs in the top 10 are 75 percent lower than average, according to Motoreasy.
