Six people including at leas one child are killed in horrifying house fire as two babies escape

At least six people from the same family have been killed and five injured in a horrific house fire in Georgia.

Firefighters were called just before 5 a.m. to the 1300 block of Macedonia Road, six miles north of the town of Newnan in Coweta County.

Firefighters arrived nine minutes later to find the building half engulfed in flames with five people outside.

They battled the flames to locate the remaining six people, who ultimately died.

The injured were rushed to Grady Memorial Hospital, some in “serious” condition.

“There are some things you can’t ignore,” Sydney Williams, who claims to be a relative, wrote on Facebook. ‘This is one of them. We are absolutely devastated.”

She said two infants and their older sister, along with two adults, had escaped.

Williams requested children’s clothes, diapers and formula to support the three children, who she said would later leave the hospital.

She is also looking for clothing and belongings for the two surviving adults. Supporters can make donations at GoFundMe.

The six victims are reportedly all from the same family and are aged between six and seventy Times Herald quotes Fire Chief Robby Flanagan.

“From what we understand, this is a very large family, so we are trying to reach out to them,” he said. “At this time we don’t know what their immediate needs are, but this family will need quite a bit of help.”

A firefighter is also being treated for minor injuries. The cause of the fire is not yet known.

“The Coweta County Sheriff’s Office is deeply saddened by the news of the house fire that has claimed the lives of several members of our community,” police said in a statement.
