The remarkable diet it takes to fuel a career in the NFL has been exposed by a food vlogger who ‘survived’ for 24 hours like JJ Watt.
ErikTheElectric, who has amassed nearly 3 million subscribers taking on the eating challenges on YouTube, ate 21,620 calories in less than a day.
It came after NFL defensive back JJ Watt, an NFL minority owner, revealed his daily routine of two breakfasts, two lunches, two dinners — and even his three cheat meals.
The Youtuber decided to tackle them all in one day, a challenge that involved a wide variety of foods including 10 eggs, broccoli, beef brisket and potato pancake.
Watt spent 12 seasons in the NFL before retiring in January of this year. The former defensive end stands at 6ft5ins and weighed 288 pounds.

To reinforce that framework, his first breakfast consisted of six eggs, oatmeal, and an array of fruits, such as strawberries, blueberries, and a banana.
In total, the vlogger consumed approximately 3,000 calories. That is more than the recommended daily amount for both women (2,000) and men (2,500).
Watt’s second breakfast consisted of eating four eggs and four slices of wheat toast. Two were covered in peanut butter, banana and honey, while the others were eaten with jelly. That brought up the number of calories (4,580).
What followed was the first of three cheat meals – stuffed French toast served with maple syrup, followed by potato pancake – which contained another 4,150 calories.

‘Lunch one’ consisted of three chicken fillets, wrapped in bacon and served with Italian dressing
‘Lunch one’ consisted of three chicken breasts, wrapped in bacon and served with Italian dressing, alongside broccoli and a plate of whole wheat pasta.
‘Lunch two’, meanwhile, consisted of more chicken breasts, sweet potato puree and steamed carrots. Together, the two meals consisted of no less than 4,250 calories.
ErikTheElectric reached the 14,000 calorie mark with his second cheat meal of the day: BBQ brisket. He estimated that by then he had already consumed 650 grams of protein – more than he would normally eat in an entire week.
But then came his two dinners: lamb chops, grilled asparagus, whole-wheat pasta, filet mignon, steamed broccoli and more pasta. What was left? Cheat meal #3: a whole pack of Oreos and 2,900 extra calories.
“I’m stuffed to the brim – it’s like I have a newborn in there,” the YouTuber admitted.
