Six former Mississippi law enforcement officers have pleaded guilty to charges of torturing and abusing two black men during a raid.

Deputies from the Rankin County Sheriff’s Office and one from the Richland Police Department have been charged with conspiracy to obstruct justice.

Christian Dedmon, Hunter Elward, Brett McAlpin, Jeffrey Middleton and Daniel Opdyke and ex-cop Joshua Hartfield were all charged in connection with the assault of Michael Corey Jenkins and Eddie Terrell Parker in January.

Dedmon was charged with home invasion and Elward was charged with home invasion and aggravated assault.

McAlpin, Middleton, Opdyke and Hartfield each faced additional charges of first degree obstruction of justice.

Prosecutors say some officers nicknamed themselves “Goon Squad” because of their willingness to use excessive force and cover it up.

All officers pleaded guilty to state charges on Monday and previously pleaded guilty in a related federal civil rights case.

In January, the officers entered a Mississippi property without a warrant and handcuffed Jenkins and Parker before attacking them.

The brutal attack included the use of a stun gun, sex toys and other items.

Officials say they taunted them with racial slurs after a 90-minute torture session.

Prosecutors allege law enforcement then plotted a cover-up, planning drugs and a gun, which initially led to false charges.

But their lies were unraveled after a cop admitted to lying
