Six dead, three injured in ‘horrific’ crash in upstate New York: Express bus and cargo truck collided head-on as police launched investigation

Six people were killed and three injured Saturday when a bus collided head-on with a freight truck in upstate New York.

The accident took place on State Highway 37 in Louisville, a city just south of the Canadian border, around 6 a.m.

There were 15 people on the bus and one person on the truck. The road was closed for 12 hours while police investigated the accident, which they described as “appalling”.

Until yesterday one of the injured was in critical condition and two in serious condition, according to the Police. Cops have not said which vehicle collided with which.

The truck was a Penske box truck and was reportedly fully loaded.

The bus appeared to be a shuttle bus and was branded for LBFNY, a New York-based solar energy company.

Road conditions were icy at the time of the accident, and the road could be seen packed with high snowbanks on both sides.
