  • Five other cows were left in similarly brutal conditions, including two that had their anuses and ‘external genitalia’ removed

Texas authorities are left with more questions than answers after they found six cows with their tongues cut out along a rural highway.

Farmers in Madison County, about 100 miles southwest of Waco, last week first discovered a 6-year-old longhorn cross cow lying on her side, dead and mutilated, the local sheriff’s office announced Wednesday.

The cow’s tongue was removed ‘without spilling blood’ and a ‘straight, clean cut with apparent precision’ was made to remove the skin around the cow’s mouth on one side.

While investigating the suspicious death, authorities learned that five other cows had also been left in a similarly brutal condition on the side of Old San Antonio Road — including two that had had their anuses and “external genitalia” removed.

Each of the cows came from a different pasture and herd and were found in different locations along the state highway in nearby Brazos and Robertson counties.

When investigating the first reported death, Madison County investigators noted that the flesh under the removed skin was untouched.

“Ranchers also reported that no predators or bids would scavenge the cow’s remains, leaving it untouched for weeks,” Madison County Sheriff’s deputies said of the discovery.

They then made the same discovery at the resting places of the other five cows, including four mature cows and one yearling.

Authorities also found that there had been a circular cut on two of the cows. made to remove the anus and external genitalia.

“This circular cut was made with the same precision as the cuts around each cow’s jawlines,” delegates wrote in a Facebook post.

They further noted that the grass around the carcasses was undisturbed and there were no footprints or tire tracks at any of the sites.

And investigators found no sign of struggle or bloodshed at the scenes.

Sheriff officials are now working with other law enforcement agencies to note that there have been “several similar incidents” across the United States, and are asking anyone with information to call (936) 348-2755.
