They accused each other of “gaslighting” as they argued are estrangement from their sons – Gabriel, 21, and Garrison, 25 – due to his COVID restrictions.
“You always point it back at me,” Janelle wailed.
“That’s because it’s yours, Janelle,” Kody retorted. “Because you didn’t support my position when it came to actually doing the COVID stuff.”
The patriarch instituted a strict set of rules to prevent the spread of COVID-19 during the pandemic, which only exacerbated his family’s problems.
Janelle was forced to choose between her husband and their adult sons, who continued their social lives and ignored their father’s COVID protocol.
“Kody, I protected my kids,” emphasized Janelle, who is also a mom to Logan, 29, Maddie, 27, Hunter, 22, and Savanah, 18.
“And you said, ‘Choose your allegiance or you won’t get a husband.’ So I have to choose between you and our children? That’s what you actually said.”
Kody argued that all Janelle had to do was support his lines, asking, “Do you understand that parents are supposed to be a united front?”
He accused her of “gaslighting” him and “throwing me under the bus,” but she claimed he did that to her.

As their argument escalated, Kody continued to blame Janelle for the rift between him and their sons. “Shut the fuck up and let me talk to you for a minute,” she told him

As their argument escalated, Kody kept blaming Janelle for the rift between him and their sons, feeling like she couldn’t get a word in.
“Shut the fuck up and let me talk to you for a minute,” she told him.
An enraged Kody got up and prepared to leave, insisting their relationship was over and beyond saving.
“There is no interest here in understanding each other. There is no interest in understanding. There’s just a bitterness that has no room for it,” he said.
“I don’t expect you to support me anymore. I’m not going to look for it. I’m not going to ask. I don’t expect you to try and help us as a co-parent of the kids. That is too late. We’ll never do that.
“So what partnership do we have?” he asked.
Janelle grabbed his coat, trying to keep him talking, but he refused and stormed out.

Janelle said that after Kody stormed out, she kicked him out for good. She commented that she did not want to see him, but soon realized the consequences of their divorce
“I used to rely on this family structure, but now I’m really stuck,” Janelle admitted. “And I’m like, ‘Oh damn. I’m 50 and I have nothing'”
“F**k you,” she said just before he slammed the door.
The mother-of-six told the camera crew to “shut it down,” but she later spoke of the fallout from their argument and how it affected her financially.
“We threw accusations at each other about what was going on and it was shocking. For example, it was shocking. I was really upset when he left because it has a final character and now I’m worried about what will happen to me,” she explained.
Going forward, do I live here? Do I build? It feels like Kody and I will no longer be a couple. Really and truly. It was that dramatic. There had been so much build up and then not so much the words. Yes, the words were very harsh, but the feeling was just, “We’re done.”
Janelle said that after he left, she called him and told him to pick up his things. She commented that she didn’t want to see Kody after kicking him out of the house, but she soon realized the ramifications of their divorce.
“So after I kind of got over the shock after Kody left, I was like, ‘Oh damn. I have nothing financially.’ I’m trapped in this property, all my estate,” she explained, referring to the family’s Coyote Pass property in Flagstaff, Arizona.
‘Every form of savings, money, everything is tied up in this building. I’m a smart woman and I did something really stupid.’
“I used to rely on this family structure, but now I’m really stuck,” Janelle admitted. “And I’m like, ‘Oh my god. I’m 50 and I have nothing.'”
