Sir Rod Stewart has joked about David Beckham’s knighthood ‘coming soon’.
The rock star, 79, received his own knighthood in 2016 and appeared with his wife Penny Lancaster at the King’s Foundation opening ceremony in London.
During his short speech, he proclaimed that football legend David, 49, will soon receive the same honor he received almost a decade ago.
In a video posted to X, he said: “Penny and I are so honored to be ambassadors for the King’s trust.
‘I am also extremely honored that I can be there for an evening. David, yours is coming soon’.

The former England captain has yet to join a limited list of his fellow sporting stars to receive such an honour, including the late Sir Bobby Charlton and former Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson.
He was awarded an OBE in 2003 for his services to football.
The former Manchester United player was just one of many famous faces at the royal event in London.
He was seen sharing a joke with the monarch, 75, and looked dapper in a black suit and tie.
David – who is married to Posh Spice Victoria Beckham – was in good spirits at the event, which was also attended by actress Sienna Miller.
The King’s Foundation Awards aim to honor students, teachers, alumni and partners of his foundation, which offers educational courses, wellbeing programs and leads regeneration projects across the UK, inspired by the monarch’s long-standing ethos of working with nature to work.
Beckham was recently announced as an ambassador for the King’s Foundation and met with His Majesty in Highgrove.

The king seemed pleased to see him again and greeted him warmly. His Majesty referred to England’s recent 1-0 defeat by Iceland and the upcoming European Championship with a chuckle: ‘It was very bad luck, I must say, David.’
Beckham replied: ‘No, no, I don’t think we should reward too much for that.’ “It doesn’t really matter, does it?” His Majesty replied. “It was a warm-up session.”
‘Heat up. It’ll be fine,’ said the sportsman. The king added, “Because at first you don’t want to spend it all at once.” “We’ll be ready,” Beckham said.
Nine awards were presented at tonight’s awards ceremonies, which will be an annual event, culminating in the monarch’s personal presentation of the King Charles III Harmony Award, presented to an individual in recognition of his long-standing commitment to the mission of the foundation.
