Sir Mo Farah’s farewell continued as he finished eighth in the Great Manchester Run 10K on Sunday, the penultimate race of his career.
Britain’s greatest distance runner set a time of 29 minutes 11 seconds as he competed in the event for the first time since his 2018 win.
Farah competed earlier in the London Marathon last month and finished ninth.
And after his heroics on Sunday, the 40-year-old is now retiring after a performance at the Great North Run in September.
Farah’s glittering career has earned him double Olympic gold in the 5,000 and 10,000 meters in London 2012 and Rio 2016, as well as six world titles.

Farah was emphatically applauded by the Manchester crowd who had lined the streets of the city center and past the route’s famous landmarks.
The long-distance runner managed to briefly stay with the leading elite pack, but dropped back in the second half of the race when a gap opened up that Farah was unable to close.
Italy’s Eyob Faniel held off a late charge from Marc Scott to take victory with a time of 28:27, just four seconds ahead of the second-place challenger.
