Olympic champion Mo Farah has revealed that he came second in a 100m race behind a man wearing jeans.

The four-time gold medalist, who is the greatest long-distance athlete in Britain’s history, was beaten by a family mate in a school race despite the former world champion wearing his spiked shoes.

The 39-year-old’s wife, Tania, admitted he “can’t run” and struggled with the 100m format of his parents’ race.

Tania told the Performance People podcast: “Mo was in the parent race on sports day and came in second, and the boy who won was wearing jeans.”

The four-time gold medalist, who is the greatest long-distance athlete in Great Britain’s history, was beaten by a family mate in a school race.

The 39-year-old’s wife, Tania, admitted he “can’t run” and struggled with the 100m format of his parents’ race.

‘The father who won dined out for an entire school year.

“He’s not a sprinter, that’s what he is, the father’s race is always 100 meters.

“People just assume that Mo can run fast, but his speed is sustained for many laps.”

Sir Mo added, “I was like ‘oh no’, and I had my nails on, I was like ‘I’m ready for this’.”

“He was also tagging me saying ‘eat some of that.’

I can not run.

He and his wife have four children and a home in South West London.

Mo Farah achieved a double-double by winning the 5,000m and 10,000m races at Rio de Janeiro 2016 – he also did the same at London 2012.

He has also won gold medals at the World Championships in the 5,000 m in 2011, 2013 and 2015 and gold in the 10,000 m, in 2013, 2015 and 2017.
