Manchester United owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe has been pictured running the London Marathon just hours before his side take to the field in the FA Cup semi-final.
It was previously revealed that the 71-year-old faced a race against time to reach Wembley.
Ratcliffe was looking to improve his personal best of four hours and 32 minutes as he raced straight from the finish to North London.
Mail Sport understands the petrochemical billionaire’s aim is to get to the arch in time for the second half of a match.
It remains to be seen whether he will make it to the second half, but videos have now emerged of Ratcliffe running the marathon.
Fans have united on social media to praise Ratcliffe’s efforts, while others joked about the marathon.
The first player to be targeted was current loanee Jadon Sancho, with one X user saying: ‘This is the run Sancho couldn’t make!’
Another account joined in and set its sights on Marcus Rashford.
“Runs more than Rashford,” they joked.
Luke Shaw was the next victim of the joke, with Theory United claiming Ratcliffe was fitter than the Man United left-back.
“Casemiro during counterattacks,” another user wrote.
A final report joked that Ratcliffe had plenty of experience, as they said: ‘He knows running United is no joke’.
The Red Devils meet Coventry City at Wembley in the FA Cup semi-final at 3.30pm.
On a free ride, it would take about 35 minutes to drive the 12 miles from the shadow of Buckingham Palace to the famous arch.
Therefore, it is unclear what time Ratcliffe will arrive.
A win for Erik ten Hag’s team will see them face Manchester City in the final.
