Sir Jim Ratcliffe could ‘axe THREE Man United chiefs – including CEO Richard Arnold – when he takes over football operations at Old Trafford’ with the British billionaire’s takeover ‘set to be completed as early as Monday’

  • According to reports, the purchase of Sir Jim Ratcliffe will be completed on Monday
  • The Red Devils have lost three of their last four and conceded ten in that time
  • Man Utd are NOT good enough to have a ball playing goalkeeper It all comes to the surface

Sir Jim Ratcliffe will have an immediate impact on completing his purchase of a stake in Manchester United, according to reports.

The British billionaire is set to buy a 25 percent stake in the club and take control of its football operations, and is also thought to commit £245 million to improving infrastructure.

As such, it is believed he is already planning an overhaul of the club’s scouting and acquisition network.

However, these roles are currently filled by CEO Richard Arnold, director of football John Murtough and director of football operations David Harrison – who was only appointed earlier this year.

As a result, The Sun reports that all three could lose their jobs as a direct result of Ratcliffe’s takeover, although it had already been suggested that Arnold would leave in the event of the 71-year-old’s arrival.

Moreover, they report that the purchase of 25 percent will be completed as early as Monday.

In recent years, the Red Devils have made a number of major purchases on the transfer market, purchases that have not always yielded the desired results.

The most notable signing is undoubtedly Paul Pogba, who was brought in for £89 million but never lived up to the promise he showed at Juventus before returning to United.

Moreover, the French 2018 World Cup winner ultimately left the club for nothing when he returned to De Oude Dame in 2021 at the end of a dismal period at the club.

United have also paid £85.5m to Antony, £80m to Harry Maguire, £75m to Romelu Lukaku and a further £73m to Jadon Sancho – whose future remains unclear.

However, this has not translated into an equally big trophy, with United still without a league title due to the absence of Sir Alex Ferguson, something which is believed to be worrying Ratcliffe.

The Red Devils have lost three of their last four games in all competitions – conceding ten goals in that period – and are already out of the Carabao Cup and on the brink of an early exit from the Champions League.

However, Ratcliffe is believed to be sympathetic to Erik ten Hag’s plight, having won the Carabao Cup last season following a period of failure under Davis Moyes, Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho Ole Gunnar Solskjaer and Ralf Rangnick.

The Dutchman has now spent an estimated £374 million on transfers, with the acquisition of Rasmus Hojlund this summer a notable addition to that total.

The Dane scored twice on Wednesday, but could not prevent his team from suffering a shocking defeat on the way to Copenhagen.

He broke two records; he became the youngest ever to score a brace on the road in the Champions League with the club, and broke Dimitar Berbatov’s record (four) for most goals in his first four appearances (five) in Europe.

The Red Devils take on Luton Town on Saturday afternoon and need a big result against the newly promoted side to build some much-needed momentum.
