Sir David Jason made a rare appearance at the Only Fools And Horses Musical gala evening at the Evertim Apollo in London on Wednesday.

The actor, who played Derek ‘Del Boy’ Trotter in the BBC sitcom, joined cast members including Sam Lupton, Vinny Jones and Paul Whitehouse at the event.

The star expressed frustration that despite a decades-long career in film and television, he is best known for his role as Del Boy.

He said the character “just holds me back, just kind of upsets me, because that seems to be the only thing people remember me for.”

“I’m really happy in a way that it’s reached so many people and that they’ve enjoyed what I’ve done with the character, but I’ve done so many other things that everyone seems to have forgotten. It’s like I’ve only ever played Derek Trotter.’
