It comes after Sir David was forced to postpone the Only Fools And Horses convention this summer after a serious health scare.

He discovered that he had to undergo hip surgery to have a bionic body part implanted in him.

The star gave fans an update on his health in a statement explaining why he couldn’t make it to the event.

He joked that he didn’t want to specify which surgery he was having because it might make his fans “want it all.”

Sir David shared a statement on his Facebook page that he had to pull out of the planned “Fools and Horses Only Convention”.

He wrote: “I’m very sorry for the disappointment and any inconvenience this may cause, but we have to change the date of the upcoming Only Fools and Horses convention.”

‘And don’t worry it’s not supplied by Monkey Harris, it’ll be pukka gear.’

He added of moving the event: “I really hope that everyone can make the new date of January 13th and 14th.”

“We can all have something nice to look forward to!” These events are such a fun celebration for me and the rest of the Only Fools crew, and it’s a great privilege to meet so many of you, but I want to do it with the smile on my face that I’ve always had. ‘

Sir David signed his statement: “Once again, please accept my sincere apologies as this was not a decision I took lightly and I hope you understand my situation.” All the best until then.’

The ‘Only Fools’ convention was due to take place in October but has now been rescheduled for January at the Hilton Hotel in Milton Keynes.

Sir David struggled with his health after a “seriously bad” battle with Covid in July 2022.

The viral infection left him so weak that he collapsed at his home in Ellsborough, Buckinghamshire, and told BBC Breakfast of his fall: “All the muscles weren’t working. I collapsed and fell on the radiator. I was so weak that I could not stand up.

“I tried for about a quarter of an hour, trying all kinds of things to get up so I could walk.

“But to do that, I had to use my head.” So now I’m lying face down on the ground, and to get to the door – and my arms really weren’t working and my legs weren’t working – I was using my head to drag me to the door.’

Covid is thought to have caused a condition called myalgia, which causes muscle pain and can affect ligaments, tendons and fascia – the soft tissues that connect muscles, bones and organs.
