Sir Bob Geldof arrived at the Melbourne Cup Carnival on Tuesday.
The Irish musician, 73, who is currently in Australia filming comedy film Zombie Plane, looked dapper as he arrived at Flemington Racecourse.
The iconic rock star wore a black suit paired with a purple shirt for the surprise outing.
He went without a tie and opted for a casual yet chic look as he focused his attention on the event.
The Boomtown Rats rocker wore his long white hair down in his signature tousled style and rocked a distinguished beard.
Geldof was all smiles as he took off his statement sunglasses and posed for the cameras before heading off to enjoy the festivities.
But Sir Bob wasn’t the only famous face at the Race That Stops the Nation.
Elizabeth Hurley, Samantha Armytage, Sylvia Jeffreys and Olivia Molly Rogers were among the stars at the event.

Celebrities streamed into Flemington’s world-famous ‘Birdcage’ on Tuesday afternoon, where guests are treated to premium delicacies: from free-flowing French champagne to specialty cocktails and meals prepared by renowned five-star chefs.
This year’s VIP visitors have also indulged in caviar bumps – a fine dining trend that refers to eating a bunch of expensive food from the back of the hand.
According to Daily Mail insider Jana Hocking, these were the only bumps consumed at the exclusive venue, in stark contrast to the halycon days of wild celebrity antics.
The list of celebrity guests is hosted by GH Mumm, the event’s official champagne sponsor, Furphy, winemakers Penfolds, Lexus and Crown Resorts.
