Single mother affected by act of SPM Melbourne contractor

A single mother facing tough times is moved to tears because of a moving act by a Good Samaritan contractor.

The woman, who did not want to share her name, contacted SPM Melbourne to install a wire mesh on her window and the company sent Adam to do the job.

When he arrived at the house, the two started talking about life and she told him that she was going through a rough patch at the moment.

Adam told her he would like to do the job for free so the mother and her could be safe – before she declined, saying the offer brought her to tears.

She was moved again after the contractor installed the screen and left her a very surprising gift.

A single mother from Melbourne contacted SPM Melbourne to install a security screen on her window and Adam, the employee SPM sent, gave her a touching card

Adam presented the mother with a touching card and $50.

‘To live. There’s no right way to do it. So worry less and laugh more, just join in and be happy,” read the front of the card.

The mother has spoken 7News about the ‘beautiful and friendly’ experience she found herself in.

“He offered to do the work for free if I couldn’t afford it to keep us safe, but I declined, through tears, overwhelmed by his kindness and generosity, and assured him I could pay,” she said.

She said she will cherish this moment forever and that it also had an impact on her son.

“My son was overwhelmed and hugged him, genuinely shocked and impressed that a stranger would be so kind,” she said.

The experience reminded her that there is “so much good out there and Adam is the perfect example of that.”

Now the mum says the experience has reminded her how much good there is in the world and she has urged anyone who needs a safety screen to call Adam (pictured)

The mother described him as an honest and sincere person who worked hard to support his family.

She said anyone requiring security screens in the Craigieburn area, 34km north of Melbourne, should strongly consider recruiting them for the job.

Her story was shared on social media, along with a photo of the card and Adam’s business card with his email address and phone number.

The response from social media users who saw the Facebook post was overwhelmingly positive.

“I hope Adam loves his job because I have a feeling he’s going to be swamped,” one person wrote.

“I have some work to do and I’m going to get Adam,” another added.
