Singer Darlyn Morais, 28, dies after being bitten by a SPIDER while his stepdaughter, 18, is hospitalized

Brazilian singer Darlyn Morais died Monday from complications after being bitten in the face by a spider.

Morais fell ill after being bitten by the spider at his home in the northeastern city of Miranorte on October 31.

His 18-year-old stepdaughter also suffered a spider bite and is currently hospitalized and in stable condition, Morais’ wife Jhullyenny Lisboa told Brazilian news channel G1.

Lisboa said Morais experienced body fatigue and the color of the bruise on his face began to change as a result of the bite.

Morais suffered allergic reactions later in the week and visited a hospital in Miranorte, where he was treated and discharged on Friday.

“He felt weakness in his body and his face started to darken on the same day (October 31),” Lisboa said. “He went to hospital and was admitted to Palmas General Hospital on Sunday.”

Morais immersed himself in the music world at the age of 15, singing forró, a popular music genre in the northeastern region of Brazil that is based on a combination of the accordion, zabumba and metal triangle.

His small, three-piece band consisted of his brother and a friend.

The group performed regularly in the state of Tocantins and was also booked in the nearby states of Goiás, Maranhão and Pará.

“He was always surrounded by friends and it was always a reason for him to celebrate,” his cousin Wesleya Silva told G1. ‘Always very happy and smiling with everyone around him. Owner of a gigantic heart, who always helps the people around him.’

Morais, who had a six-year-old girl and one-year-old boy with his wife, was planning a live show in January 2024 that would be recorded and released on DVD, his friend, Samuel Zhytor, told G1. .

“He was always very loved here in the region,” Zhytor said. “He has always given me many opportunities, both in and out of state.”
