Simu Liu’s house is the latest to be burglarized amid concerning string of celebrity LA home break-ins

Simu Liu’s house was broken into last week during the holidays, amid the latest series of celebrity burglaries.

Fortunately, the 35-year-old actor was not home at the time of the burglary.

Additionally, there was reportedly nothing of value in the home to take with him, as he is currently doing renovations to his Los Angeles property, per TMZ.

Sources from local law enforcement confirmed to the outlet that the incident occurred Friday evening around 11 p.m. when an intruder smashed a glass door.

Security was alerted to the burglary and called police, who ultimately found no one when they searched the house for suspects.

This comes as the Barbie star – who called out a Canadian-based bubble tea company for cultural appropriation during his appearance on Dragons’ Den – prepares for his new film release and the promo tour for his upcoming dive drama biopic Last Breath.

The Marvel star, known for starring in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, isn’t the only celebrity to have their home broken into in the past year.

In 2024, a slew of A-listers, including Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson, as well as Jessie J, Tyler Perry, Sophia Bush and Marlon Wayans, had their homes in Los Angeles broken into.

Over the summer, Wayans’ $5.3 million ranch in the San Fernando Valley was targeted by burglars.

In October, Jessie J also fell victim to a wave of burglaries targeting wealthy residents in the Los Angeles area.

More than $20,000 worth of jewelry was stolen from her Southern California mansion.

In August, law enforcement officials also confirmed that Hanks and Wilson’s clifftop estate in the Pacific Palisades had been burglarized while they were away from home.

Bhad Bhabie and Sarah Hyland also had their homes broken into last summer.

Victoria’s Secret model Daniela Braga’s home was also ransacked by burglars who stole $1 million worth of belongings.

In addition, a number of athletes had their homes broken into in 2024.

Kansas City Chiefs stars Travis Kelce and Patrick Mahomes were targeted in October, while Cincinatti Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow also recently had his home burglarized.

The FBI has since issued a formal warning to US sports leagues after confirming that at least nine professional athletes have been victims of burglaries by organized theft groups.
