The news comes just days after Liu joined the cast of a new Amazon movie titled Grand Death Lottery.
He reunites with Shang-Chi and Legend of the Ten Rings star Awkwafina along with John Cena on the project.
Paul Feig will direct from a script by Ron Yescombe (Outside the Wire), which is set in the “very near future” where something known as the Grand Lottery is set in “economically troubled California.”
When a winner is selected… the problem is that anyone can legally kill the winner before sunset to claim their multi-million dollar prize.
The story centers on Awkwafina’s character, Katie, who has just moved to Los Angeles and stumbles across the winning ticket.
She decides to team up with an ‘amateur jackpot protector’ named Noel (Cena), who tries to fend off all rivals to keep her safe until sundown.
Liu plays Louis Lewis, Noel’s ‘protection rival’ who also tries to protect her and claim a lucrative protection fee like Noel.
