Simu Liu announces the release of his new single Don’t: ‘This song was written for all the hard times in my life’

Simu Liu announced the release of his new single, titled Don’t, via a post shared on his Instagram on Friday.

The 33-year-old artist shared the album cover and a snippet of the track, as well as two promotional photos, on his account.

The Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star, who recently visited a small restaurant in his native Canada, also wrote a short note in the caption of his post to expand on the track’s themes.

Liu wrote, “This song was written for all the hard times in my life when I questioned my worth and felt like an impostor.”

He added, “It’s for anyone who has ever felt alone, different, broken, or hopeless. you are worthy. you belong. you matter.’

The Kim’s Convenience star concluded by writing, ‘I had the experience of a lifetime working on this record with @88rising. Our journey together has only just begun. More coming soon!’

The artist’s song is mainly aimed at inspiring listeners to get through their rough times.

The song’s chorus also features the lines, “Don’t give up when you’re halfway through the road / There’s so much more to you than you know.”

Liu previously contributed vocals to the song Hot Soup, which was released as part of the Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings soundtrack album.

The record, which debuted in September 2021, peaked at number 160 on the US Billboard 200 chart.

The actor recently performed at the most recent Juno Awards, held last month.

He recently showed off his musical skills in a video shared on his Instagram account of him playing guitar and singing Look At Us Now (Honeycomb), which was featured on the Daisy Jones & The Six soundtrack.

While Liu seems to be progressing in a musical career, he is currently set to appear in the upcoming action comedy Grand Death Lotto.

It was revealed that the actor was added to the film’s cast last March along with artists like John Cena and Awkwafina.

The Paul Feig-directed feature revolves around a woman who comes into possession of a winning lottery ticket and must fend off attacks to claim her winnings.

The expected release date of Grand Death Lotto has not yet been announced.
