The simple act this woman performed with a friend’s engagement ring – and why social media is so outraged she’s had to come out to defend herself

A Perth influencer has come under fire for trying on her best friend’s engagement ring before her fiancé proposed.

On Wednesday, Em Davies, 28, shared a video showing her friend Temika’s engagement ring being delivered to her home as the couple were packing up their own home to move abroad.

Em’s followers were furious that she opened the box and tried on the ring before the official proposal took place.

“Opened her box before she did it, saw it before she did it, reacted before she did it, put it on your finger before she did it, and cried before she could,” one person said.

“And you thought this was a good idea to A) do in the first place, and B) post… buddy.”

Another follower agreed, saying: ‘Maybe she can try on her wedding dress first too.’

The first commenter replied that Em might as well practice “the first kiss” with her best friend’s future husband.

In the clip, Em explained that she helped Temika’s boyfriend pick out the engagement ring.

She then hid it in her house while her friend was packing to move across the country.

When the beautiful piece arrived at her home, Em took it out of the box to make sure everything was in order before trying on the ring.

She has since been forced to defend herself against trolls who criticized her actions.

“Opened her box before she did, saw it before she did, reacted before she did, put it on your finger before she did, and cried before she could,” one person said.

‘Do you know why I did that? Because otherwise my best friend would have known she was going to be proposed to,” Em explained.

“If the fiancé had left it in their house while they were packing up their entire lives to move across Australia, she would have found it because she did all the packing.

‘I also chose the ring. I had it delivered to my home… I have a close relationship with the brand (YCL), that’s why I made the video.”

Em further explained that showing off the ring was part of a brand deal with YCL Jewels, which her friend Temika was aware of and supported.
