Simone Biles says routines affected by ‘weird and awkward’ atmosphere – video

Simone Biles attributed her fifth-place finish in the Paris 2024 Olympic beam final to a “strange and uncomfortable” atmosphere at the Bercy Arena. Biles fell from the beam during her routine and later explained that the lack of sound meant she could “hear some Android ringtones and the photo clickers” before adding that “you try to stay in your zone, and then people start cheering and the whispers get louder.” Biles remained positive, however, adding that she was “proud” of herself, saying: “I can’t be mad at my performance. A few years ago I wouldn’t have thought I would be back here at the Olympics, so to compete and walk away with four medals, I’m not mad at it.”
