Simone Biles reveals she broke down in tears after final event at Paris Olympics

Despite winning three gold medals in Paris and becoming the most decorated gymnast in Olympic history, Simone Biles was still in tears after her latest milestone.

The 27-year-old American, who has now won 11 Olympic medals, including seven gold, said she felt overwhelmed as she walked back to the Olympic Village in Paris with her teammates after the women’s floor final on Monday.

Biles’ summer earnings include team gold, all-around gold, vault and floor silver.

‘Yesterday, when we got back to the village, I looked at Jordan [Chiles] “And I started crying,” Biles said Tuesday on the “TODAY” Show.

“She said something like, ‘I knew it would happen, I just didn’t know when.’ I was so emotional, I was finally able to let it all go.”

Biles then clarified, “I was so proud, happy and bittersweet that the journey was over. It’s so crazy, it happened so fast. My third Olympics.”

While the Spring, Texas, native hasn’t ruled out her chances of competing in a fourth Olympics, she’s not yet sure what the future holds for her.

“You know, you never say never,” Biles told “TODAY” Show hosts Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb. “The next Olympics are on home turf. [in Los Angeles] ‘So you never know.’

The gymnast added: “I’m just going to relax and see where life takes me.”

But before Biles packed her bags to head home, MyKayla Skinner, her former U.S. gymnastics teammate, begged her to stop the online harassment she faced after criticizing the Olympian before the Games began.

Biles was also defended by former US First Lady Michelle Obama for bowing to Brazilian rival Rebeca Andrade after the women’s floor final. Biles placed second in the event, while Chiles claimed bronze.

Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marlon Humphrey initially strongly criticized Biles and Chiles for their gesture on the podium during the medal ceremony.

Meanwhile, during the Paris Olympics, Biles went to therapy “three or four times” to overcome her fear between events, known in gymnastics as the “Twisties.”
