Simone Biles has issued a light-hearted apology after attending a wedding with her girlfriend on New Year's Eve but falling asleep at 10:30 p.m.

The Olympic gymnast, 26, had been eagerly awaiting it Ali Tyler's wedding, but was caught on camera by girlfriend Kayla Simone gtake a power nap hours before midnight.

Kayla posted the photo of Simone sleeping to her Instagram Story and comically wrote, “Not this asshole who invites me to fly across the country for a wedding on New Year's Eve just to make her sleep before 10:30.”

Simone then reshared the humorous snap and replied, “I'm sooooo sorry,” with a laughing emoji.

She accessorized her formal dress with an array of silver accessories, including a necklace that paid tribute to 28-year-old husband Jonathan Owens.

The NFL star, who plays for the Green Bay Packers, was unable to attend the wedding because his team was playing the Minnesota Vikings in Wisconsin.

Simone usually shows her support by personally cheering on her husband during his matches, so this was the first in several weeks that she has missed due to the clash with her friend's special day.

She and Owens married in April 2023 in Houston at a courthouse before celebrating their official wedding in Mexico.

Recently, Simone documented the journey of building their dream home together in Texas for her 7.1 million social media followers.

But last month, Simone told her Instagram followers to “stop bringing her up” amid backlash over her husband's claims that he was unaware of the four-time Olympic gold medalist's success before she met each other.

The New Year's Eve wedding is not the first time that Simone has been scolded by her friends for falling asleep.

Fellow teammate gymnast Aly Raisman posted a photo of the sports star sleeping on the plane driving back to the United States from the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics on X, formerly known as Twitter.

Aly captioned the photo, “Miss Simone Biles fell asleep before we left. WHO'S THE GRANDMA NOW, guys.'

Simone had won five medals in South America during that season's competition.
