Simone Biles makes appearance at the US Open as Olympics hero watches Jessica Pegula battle for place in semifinals

Simone Biles will be attending the quarter-finals of the US Open in New York on Wednesday evening after her record-breaking success at the Olympic Games in Paris.

Biles, who won three gold and one silver medal in gymnastics this summer in the French capital, could not believe her luck as she watched compatriot Jessica Pegula battle it out for a spot in the women’s semi-finals against Poland’s Iga Swiatek.

The gymnastics icon will also be in attendance when the No. 1 male seed, Jannik Sinner, takes on Russia’s Daniil Medvedev (No. 5) later in the evening.

In an interview with ESPN, she said of her time at Arthur Ashe Stadium: “Oh my gosh, it’s been electric so far. It’s a lot quieter than I expected, but it’s a beautiful atmosphere.”

At the Paris Games, Biles cemented her reputation as the most decorated American gymnast of all time, bringing her Olympic total to eleven medals.
