Simon Pegg reveals the one thing Tom Cruise will NEVER do on camera
Simon Pegg has shared the one thing Tom Cruise has sworn he’ll never do on screen, as the pair once again return to the Mission Impossible film series.
The actor, 53, joked that while his co-star won’t shy away from daring stunts in his action-packed roles, he always struggles with delivering an authentic British accent.
It comes as the pair reunite for the highly anticipated Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One, which hits UK cinemas on July 10.
Speaking to Chris Moyles on his Radio X show, Simon added that Tom would like to meet his old friend and collaborator Nick Frost, but joked that the comic is less enthusiastic.
Simon also recalled the hilarious moment when he crashed a car during filming while Tom was in the passenger seat, quite a departure from the Hollywood stars’ own heroic performances.
What is it? Simon Pegg has shared the one thing Tom Cruise has vowed he’ll never do on screen as the pair once again return to the Mission Impossible film series
He said, “I’m driving up this hill and the director Chris McQuarrie says, ‘Look at Tom, look at a Tom'” there’s three cameras mounted on the car and I’m trying to see where I’m going this flipping expensive car and he still says, “Look at Tom, look at Tom, look at Tom!”
“I’m trying to watch where I’m going and I just hit a huge rock and I sort of went over it and I smashed the car.”
As Chris added, “What do you do when that happens?” Simon replied, ‘Laugh, it’s not my car! [all laugh]… I have Cruise in the passenger seat and like he jumps off cliffs on a bike and I can’t even drive a car up a hill.”
Presenter Chris then asked The World’s End star: ‘There must be something, what are you better at, there must be things…?’
Simon responded, “I’m better than him at accents, we mess around a lot on set and when you hear him try a British accent it’s hilarious.
‘It’s somewhere between Dick Van [Dyke]I mean, Tom Cruise can do just about anything, but he’ll never play a Brit.’
Simon then revealed that Tom would like to meet his old friend Nick, who he has starred in three films with.
He said, ‘He’s never met Tom, and Tom’s a little annoyed about that. He’s like, “Why didn’t I meet Nick Frost?” meet…whoever he is.”

In the seventh Mission Impossible movie, Ethan Hunk and his team embark on their most terrifying mission yet: to track down a terrifying new weapon that threatens humanity before it falls into the wrong hands.
With control of the future and the fate of the world at stake, and dark forces from Ethan’s past closing in, a deadly race around the world begins.
Faced with a mysterious, all-powerful foe, Ethan is forced to realize that nothing can be more important than his mission – not even the lives of those he cares about most.
It comes after Tom revealed why he and director Christopher McQuarrie first filmed the film’s most dangerous sequence.
In the scene, the actor is seen riding a motorcycle off a cliff before activating a parachute that lands him safely on the ground as the motorcycle crashes.
Tom explained Entertainment tonight that the rationale in filming the dangerous stunt was first to make sure that if he got hurt, the $200 million movie wouldn’t be shut down from the start.
“Well, we know if we’re going to continue with the movie or not — let’s know on day one!” Cruise, who plays Ethan Hunt in the action movie franchise, told the outlet.
The veteran Hollywood star continued, “Let’s find out on day one what’s going to happen: are we all going through or is it a major rewrite?”.
The showbiz veteran previously injured his ankle during the production of Mission: Impossible 6, which affected filming.
The A-list actor said he was intensely focused on the motorcycle cinematic sequence, which demands the utmost physical precision.
“I was training and I was ready,” Cruise said. “You have to be razor sharp when you do something like that
“It was really important when we were preparing the movie that it was actually the first thing. I don’t want to drop that and shoot other things and have my mind elsewhere.’
He added of the mindset going into filming it, “Everyone was prepared — let’s just get it done.”
