Multi-millionaire puppetmaster of climate independents comes under fire for launching a ‘disgusting’ insult at Scott Morrison
A multi-millionaire who has funded a host of ‘blue-green’ climate independents has been criticized for comparing Scott Morrison’s popularity to that of a pedophile.
Businessman and climate activist Simon Holmes à Court posted a photo of the former prime minister with Donald Trump and their wives at a New Year’s Eve party earlier this week, with a controversial caption.
“If (Mr Morrison) ever reads the replies to this tweet, it will be the second time he wishes he could stay in the US and never return home,” he wrote.
“Morrison is almost as popular as Rolf Harris,” Holmes à Court added, comparing the Liberal Party stalwart to the late Australian entertainer who was a convicted child molester.
The reaction to Mr Holmes à Court’s comment was swift and brutal, with one woman branding him ‘a sick attention seeker’. How disgusting’.
‘Regardless of your opinion of ScoMo, this comparison is beyond contempt. You should be ashamed of yourself but we all know you love to stir just for attention,” she wrote.
Another added: ‘It really doesn’t take much to peel away the thin veneer of civility and expose the dirty work that lurks among left-wing activists like these.
“Here – the big one – comparing a former prime minister to a convicted sex offender, all because he doesn’t like Morrison’s politics.”

Politicians also criticized Mr Holmes à Court, with Liberal Senator James Paterson saying: “It is insane to compare a former Prime Minister to a convicted child molester, and that this is a reflection on Simon Holmes à Court and not Scott Morrison.”
Mr Paterson also called on Blue Green MPs who were elected with the help of his money to say what they think of the comments.
“As the main financier of the blue-green MPs, Holmes à Court’s crazy views do matter,” he told Daily Mail Australia.
“A hung parliament in the next elections could give the TEALs enormous influence over the foreign and national security policies of an Albanian minority government.
“The Teals must assure their voters and the Australian people that they will not allow Holmes à Court to dictate policy on AUKUS or the US alliance.

“In a dangerous world, the last thing we need is reckless and irresponsible views like these influencing our foreign and defense policies.”
One of those teal MPs, Kylea Tink, who represents North Sydney, told the story The Australian that ‘the opinions of Simon Holmes à Court are his own.
“He was not and never has been my primary fundraiser, and I never consulted him on policy.”
Daily Mail Australia has contacted Mr Holmes à Court and Ms Tink for further comment.
