It comes after Simon said there’s a “decent chance” of The X Factor returning in the UK or US in 2024.
The talent show judges are considering returning the series to TV screens, and he would be more inclined to return the show to the United States, where Simon has a strong working relationship with NBC on America’s Got Talent.
Speaking about who the judges would be if he decided to revive The X Factor, he said: “Industry insiders, like A and R people, instead of artists because they are better judges of talent and less jealous of bright young artists.’

Simon also pointed out that A and R people aren’t as “ridiculously expensive” as some stars can be, admitting he’d take the show “back to basics” when it returns, after the program ends up being “very had become complicated.
He told The times newspaper: ‘In the beginning it was very simple – you audition and at the end of the series you get to sing with a superstar.
“So if I ever relaunched it, I’d take it back to basics.”
Comeback: It comes after Simon said there’s a ‘decent chance’ The X Factor will return in the UK or US in 2024
Simon recently admitted that he was ‘going a little crazy’ before when The X Factor – which ran for 15 series and two spin-offs on ITV from 2004 to 2019 – started to take off.
He told The sun: “X Factor in the beginning, when there was no expectation of us and we could just do what we liked, was a lot of fun. When it became a success, everyone, including me, went a little crazy.
“It was a time in my life when everything was great on the surface, but underneath it just wasn’t fun, and it wasn’t great. Everything was twisted wrong.
“And I never want to feel that way again.
“Now I think you should be satisfied with the quality of something, rather than what you’re judged on – ratings or charts.”
In July, it was reported that Channel 5 will be reviving The X Factor.
At the time, a source told the Daily Star Sunday: ‘As soon as X Factor was up for grabs, there was interest from a number of networks.
X Factor is one of the most iconic shows in TV history, so it’s no surprise that many channels were excited. The production company had their choice.
“After much deliberation, executives decided to go for Channel 5.”
