A car fire led to several large explosions near a Sikh temple in Sacramento on Monday afternoon, officials said.
According to a sheriff’s office spokesperson, the incident was reported from the Gurdwara Sacramento Sikh Society around 3:40 p.m. local time.
A member of the temple said a car on the property caught fire before spreading to a propane cylinder near the building KCR 3.
Fire officials later confirmed that propane tanks were likely responsible for the explosions.
Images from above of the temple showed the roof almost completely charred as firefighters appeared to bring the blaze under control.

The incident was reported from the Gurdwara Sacramento Sikh Society around 3:40 p.m. local time, a sheriff’s office spokesperson said.
Several vehicles in the parking lot were also clearly destroyed by the explosions.
Fortunately, everyone who had been in the temple seemed to have left the building by the time the damage was done.
No injuries were reported, according to the Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office and Fire Department.
“Confirmed: no injuries and everyone has been evacuated,” the office wrote on its X account.
“Emergency personnel are still on scene, please avoid the area.”
The temple is part of the Gurdwara Sacramento Sikh Society complex, which also includes a primary school.
The neighborhood is located in the Vineyard community of Sacramento County, about six miles east of Highway 99.
Traffic is blocked along Gerber Road and Bradshaw Road, where the temple is located.
